This spring, the gallery starts with exhibiting the exceptional works by Maatje Winters.

From her earliest memories she thinks in shapes and colors. Numbers and letters were inseparable at school associated with a particular shape or color. And this is still her image language. She is inspired especially by people around her but also by nature. She likes to experiment with all kinds of materials in her paintings and objects. More than 12.5 years ago she started a workshop for artists with disabilities in Eindhoven.  In 2008 she started her own gallery with 3 other artists, where they are experimenting, exhibit and provide workshops. She works primarily with acrylic paint, thickening pastas and things they casually find. They also works with ceramics, pulp, glass and combinations thereof.

Drawn to the color or composition of an object, the artist decides to form the object to being the subject. A colorful market in Barcelona or a beautiful shining raspberry can inspire her to make a painting. A simple object like an eggshell can, by its composition and dimension be ripped way from the reality so that it starts its own new life. One gets a different vision on foodstuffs and in such a way that it creates an appetite. Next to this, she also does portraits in which she prefers to use the methods of the old masters. Ever single painting is a joy to look at and is a must for you to come and see.

This exhibition will start on December 11th and will last until January 29th, 2012.

Her figurativ bird sculptures evolve out of being inspired by symbolism, mythology, nature and contemporary events.

She likes to start on a geomatric basis as she has a fascination for straight lines combined with curls and is pleatted to which she adds decorative effects.

As from October 8th uptil and including November 30th, we will be showing art made by Carla de Rooij. Her art is figurativ, abstract and stylized. The subtile lines, unusual color combinations and repetative paterns give the art an unexpected effect. The works are inspiring to both adults AND children, so visit the gallery with the whole family and enjoy the art.

” Plein-Air Paintings” in August and September 2011

As of August 1, the paintings of plein air artist Simon Borst are exhibited in Coenraad Art Gallery. Simon exhibited in different countries including Bulgaria, Italy, Israel, Sweden and Turkey. Just now, in May 2011, he won a special prize at the Biennale Izmir, Turkey. As the concept of plein air painting already suggests, his works are created working outside, in nature. Nature is what inspires him and at the same time, nature is his studio. His style leans against that of the impressionists, namely colorful, figurative and slightly abstract. Warm, bright and colorful paintings that are a “must” to see and enjoy. The exhibition “Plein-Air Paintings” can be seen from the 1st of August uptill and including 30 September 2011.

Whoever loves Inca masks, is certainly catered. The pre-Inca civilization with ceramics, textiles and gold masks, are elements that are incorporated into the beautiful, colorful paintings that are now shown. The exhibition “Peruvian folklore” – contemporary displayed- is shown until 31 July 2011

During February and March 2011, new works made by Josephine and Johanna will be exhibited. A variety of fauvistic and modern paintings will be shown. Both painters use bright colors which is the only thing they have in common. Their styles are totally different which makes the exhibition an interesting one. Visit the gallery and see it with your own eyes.

As from January 2011, paintings made by Josephine, are exhibited at the restaurant.  You will notice that Josephine is clearly influenced by the fauvistic movement. Whilst enjoying your dinner, enjoy the fauvistic paintings from up close. Enjoy !
